Three Graces done

In Greek mythology, a Charis is one of several Charites (Greek: “Graces”), goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, human creativity and fertility. They ordinarily numbered three, from youngest to oldest: Aglaea (“Beauty”), Euphrosyne (“Mirth”), and Thalia (“Good Cheer”). In Roman mythology they were known as the Gratiae, the “Graces”.

The Charites were usually considered the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome, though they were also said to be daughters of Dionysus and Aphrodite or of Helios and the naiad Aegle. Homer wrote that they were part of the retinue of Aphrodite. The Charites were also associated with the underworld and the Eleusinian Mysteries. – wikipedia

You know, sometimes a title makes or breaks a painting or a drawing or so i’ve read. I’ve seen some artist name their artwork bombastic titles that are either so deeply steeped in science or the occult or what have you. I don’t mean any disrespect towards them. Some of their artworks are amazing. I understand that they’re trying to tell us something about their art through the piece and title or that their trying to hint at something in a roundabout way. Good art speaks a thousand words and a catchy title; a few hundred more that the art-piece forgot to mention. It’s just sometimes the titles leave me with an incurable itch on my head. How exactly do they come up with such grand titles? I mean, when you think about it, it’s like they go through their e-mails in the morning and pick up a couple of catchy spam catchphrases and voila, a title is born! I decided to see if i could do the same and i came up with “chlorinate deliver butte” (don’t ak me what the e-mail was about, i didn’t click on it). I’m figuring with that kind of title, i could just draw a reclining nude figure in neon colors or a five-tone squiggle and everybody might think i’m pretty smart eh? Maybe not.

So, here i am with this weekend’s update. It’s simply titled “Three Graces”.
